2 Days to Go: Conference, Unconference, After-Party, Harps, Swag…

Oh my goodness! #WCDUB is on the day after tomorrow 😀

After months of organisation and sleepless nights… we’re finally ready to kick off. Our attendees list continues to grow (the last few tickets are available for purchase today and tomorrow here) and so is the tension for our very first WordCamp Dublin…

In today’s blog, we’ll do a quick recap in regard to the most important things you should know, such as how to get to DCU Business School, how to apply to speak (whaaaaat? Weren’t speaking applications closed?), where to go to have fun (the Odeon), which session you must attend if you never listened to a harpist live (wait, whaaaaaaat, are you on drugs?) and the top tips to get as much swag as possible 🙂

1. How to get to #WCDUB (…where???????)

Alright, sorry folks, today is a day like that. I give out to myself while I write! Anyhow, the event starts at 8AM for registration on Saturday morning at DCU Business School.

You can still buy tickets for €35 here and see the schedule here in case you haven’t done that yet.

Either way, getting to DCU Business School is very easy, mostly on early Saturday and Sunday mornings when the traffic is low.

You can find directions, maps, public and private transportation tips and even accommodation links at https://2017.dublin.wordcamp.org/venue/. We recommend you arrive early to avoid disappointment and having to rush while the first sessions are already on.

2. How to speak at #WCDUB (…whaaaaaaaat?)

That’s right 🙂

We’ll have a great Sunday session called “Unconference“. And on Saturday, all of you can pitch your ideas to get on stage and share your stories!

If you have an idea for a 10 minute talk (no slides, just a chat in front of many), we will have a special board where you can pitch your title idea.

We will then vote on the best applications and on Sunday you might be speaking! See, the 26 speakers we chose so far won’t be alone!

Could it be you?

3. How to have fun at #WCDUB (…party! party hard!)

Well, other than chatting with 220+ attendees, 17+ sponsors, 26 speakers, volunteers and organisers… you can also PARTY HARD!

So, get yourselves ready for some finger food, one or two free drinks, cool music and who knows whatelse!

Yep, a saturday night in Dublin cannot be missed!

All the information re: Odeon bar, directions and times is here https://2017.dublin.wordcamp.org/about-that-wcdub-saturday-night-after-party/

4. How to listen to live music at #WCDUB (…ye must be on drugs?)

Well, I’m not on drugs. I really mean it.

Úna ní FhlannagáinOn Saturday at 11.30 Úna Ní Fhlannagáin, one of Ireland’s top harpists, will be speaking (and mostly PLAYING the harp) at #WCDUB.

Yes, she will be speaking about WordPress… but I mean, you can’t miss her playing LIVE if you never did that before.

Come on over to Track 2, prepare a standing ovation or something, bring your instruments, sing… WHATEVER!

Let’s enjoy WCDUB ’till it lasts 🙂

5. How to go back home happy (…told ye needed an extra suitcase!)

We’ve got 17 sponsors.

We’ve got lots of swag to give away, including t-shirts, stickers, and who knows what else!

Whatever that is, come prepared, and don’t miss the chance to talk to ALL our sponsors – the more chats, the more swag lol 🙂

Either way, see you on Saturday morning!

Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan’t wait 😀
